Inside Out

by Jason Montero

/
1.
The illusions that you allude to me
include the problems evading our mentality
so conclusive are the answers obscuring me
can't you hit the side of a barn?

Our destination is illusion for us to see
you say include the past I say let what be just be
I say conclusively you're best at procuring me
can't you hit the side of a barn, baby?
Can't you hit the side of a barn?

I don't mean to be intrusive
I'm sure you do not mean it as well, yeah
I know my manners are obtrusive
but you can get my fire burning hotter than hell

You can't allude conclusively; it's a circle of sorts
the fire's on but the electrical system has shorts
it's not my average friend or his crazy cohorts
but you my love are game, and i don't go for sports,
you my love are game, and I'm not into sports

Illusion, contusion, you can make your own conclusions
I don't think we're ever gonna see that bright light again
Confusion, in-conclusion, it's all part of this grand retribution
I don't think i'm ever gonna stop the kicking that i'm gonna do to my head
the kicking that I'll do to my head

Can't you hit the side of a barn, baby
? Can't you hit the side of a barn?

Thorn 03:45
You say I've got problems, and i just say they're technicalities
you say they're problems and try to pin the blame inside of me
 You’re manic

You tell me i need doctors
while you're sucking juice from pre-peeled lemon drops
Sure I need doctors, cause it seems the heavy rains have spoiled my crops
 There goes my cannabis

You doodle up diplomas and theorize that I may not be well
Make reservations in that giant padded one-room white hotel
 They call Bellevue

You'd pump me up with valium, the second that I gave you half a chance
Some beer and Valiums, in a cemetery doing modern dance
Like Baryshnikov

When the damn starts, trickling water
the valley's gonna flood
But you're so cautious, you found a dutchboy
 and now you feel secure

You say you don't need me, that call from Mexico has made you poor
Sure you don't need me, so why'd you keep the key to my front door?
Can you say, 'locksmith?'

The truth is that I'm sober, but trust me, honey, that won't last for long
I thought i warned you, but you keep on insisting that I'm wrong
 Yeah, me and Shakespeare

So if your drowning, new in town and
you need someone to care
Give a call and I'll come running
and push you down the stairs

You say I've got problems, but you're the one who's covering your tracks
We've all got problems, and mine is that you keep on coming back
 Just like Elvis
3.
I'm no Midas
 No Don the Juan,
 I'm not Elvis
 Peter, Paul or John

'cause I'm me
I may be down on my luck
, but I'm me
I may be no Casanova and I'm certainly no James Dean

I'm no Gandhi, no Genghis Kahn
 no Maharishi, or Louis Farrakhan
 'cause I'm me
I may be down on my luck
but I'm me
 I may be no Beethoven
and I'm certainly no James Dean

(well I'm) rough around the edges
no carpenter in me
A speck of sawdust in my eye
but I can clearly see
 The way to the ending
is the way it's gonna be
and don't you worry 'bout offending
'cause you couldn't really offend me

Got no fan club, no Time magazine got no driver, got no limousine
 'cause I'm me
I may be down on my luck, but I'm me
 I'm no Cassanova
, but i drive much better than James Dean
4.
Criss Cross 02:58
Criss cross is what we seem to do You crossed into my path I spilled all over you Drenched in admiration your shock was of delight but did your long hair dry off in the middle of the night? Criss cross our stars shine bright You stare at capricorn while i hold you tight I can be Odysseus and swallow my tears but i never knew that the sirens were near Maybe i’m far too old Feeling far too young Reading far too many manuals by Skinner and Jung 'cause something pulled a criss cross deep inside Criss cross I’ve jumped over the line You’ve gotten your’s, baby, time after time I always thought that the neighbors all lied (when they) said the grass is greener on the other side Maybe i’m far too old Feeling far too young Reading far too many manuals by Skinner and Jung 'cause something pulled a criss cross deep inside Criss cross (we always) Criss cross (we always) Criss, cross
5.
Torn between what's here and there pulling what is left of my hair You might think that i don't care but that's an analysis that is not fair Staring at the rearview is enough to put me away Scream at myself just to get by another day Why? Is all that can be screamed when it all comes to play Then why not changes too, right now Become why not some other day Drinks and drugs and drugs and drink make it hard to stop and think I gotta one way ticket to the brink as you see my backside.............by the sink I got these organs screaming in my head birth, life's pleasures, then you're dead and my dancing partner is turning red from the things that i've said Drinks and drugs and drugs and drink make it hard to stop and think i gotta one way ticket to the brink as you see my backside.............by the sink by the sink by the sink
6.
Gomorrah 04:27
My love has gone to Gomorrah
Sodom is too close to home
I'm very worried and a bit upset
she didn't ask me to go

I'm sure I'd be a neurotic
worry straight down to the bone
Instead, I'll paint my door with lamb's blood
and drink cheap wine all alone

because my love has gone to Gomorrah
because my love has gone to Gomorrah
 because my love is gone

 She must have seen mirages
'cause she's gone and it's not my fault
I'd like to go and look for her
but I know I'd only turn to salt

My girl is riding a camel
side saddle for sure
She's got a lot on her mind
Lot's got a lot on her

A drowning worm in tequila
 Hanging down by her side
A salty taste in the back of her throat
I wish I'd gone out on that ride

because my love has gone to Gomorrah
because my love has gone to Gomorrah
and I'm wondering where I went wrong
7.
You marvel at the rainbow
 and I cannot see why
Beauty is its only gift
unlike both you and I

 You say it's so majestic
it stands out on its own
To me, it's sad and lonely
'cause it lives life all alone

And this is what the difference is
between both you and I
You are content to stare straight up
and I must touch the sky

 You marvel at the rainbow
 and I cannot see why
 Beauty is its only gift
 unlike both you and I

And this is what the difference is
it's not that we don't see eye to eye
You are content to stare straight up
and I must touch the sky
 You marvel at the rainbow
8.
Rebecca 03:47
Rebecca walks down the steps of the library like an angel, holding up her head for all to see there’s something peculiar about her something i can see Rebecca, please stay away from me Rebecca seems to be latest rage but i can hardly believe she’s truthful ‘bout her age something peculiar about her something i can see Rebecca, please stay away from me It could be something in the way she walks her burly mannerisms, Brooklyn talk real tight handshake, like a used car salesman It could be something in the way she smiles or how she’s always changing like my radio dial but a real tight handshake, like a used car salesman Rebecca, lobbing spears at bing cherries and in that light i swore i caught her eyeing me something peculiar about her something that i can see Rebecca, please stay away from me Rebecca, now she’s coming close to me I’d love to, but she’s not my type, oh can’t you see there’s something masculine about her something i can see Rebecca, please stay away from me It could be something in the way she walks her burly mannerisms, her Brooklyn talk real tight handshake, like a used car salesman it could be something in the way she smiles or how she’s always changing like a radio dial but a real tight handshake, like a used car salesman
9.
I don't know if I want you
just because I don't have you
but I'm sure these tears ain't fake
as I cry at old mistakes

I have been battered, tattered, torn
but I won't show it if I can get to sleep by dawn
you mistook me for the man I was before
sick but safer if you lock up all your doors

We were watching different stations
on different roads, in different cars
your radio on, you didn't listen
me on Venus, you on Mars
me on Venus, you on Mars

Now I don't know if I want you
maybe I don't, then again maybe I do
but you had the fear singing inside of your head
as I tried, and I tried to talk to you

 We were watching different channels
on different roads in different cars
your windows up, how could you hear me
me on Venus, you on Mars
me on Venus, you on Mars
10.
so the king explained just to keep them all contained with nothing to gain from his long-existing reign with his wife, Queen Jane, why her clothes are always stained she had a leaky vein, but no one dared to explain and the peasants just complained the abuses have become mundane oh, it’s a pain to be caught in the rain when you are insane oh, it’s a pain to be caught in the rain when you are insane at a quarter to nine, as the moon began to shine the king was out of wine, and he had burned up all the vines he was out of line; he was looking for a sign found a golden pine, and Janey took it, screaming, “Mine!” and the nobles just complained their children had all been slain oh, it’s a pain to be caught in the rain when you are insane oh, it’s a pain to be caught in the rain when you are insane oh, it’s a pain to be caught in the rain when you are insane to be caught in the rain when you are in pain to be caught in the rain when you are insane
